Project Link Math Connections was a collaborative project for elementary and middle school students across the world to experiment, discuss, and discover new adventures in learning about math together . Math Connections, created by one of my colleagues, allowed students to share their experiences with math and discover the connection of mathematics study to their own real world experiences. The challenge seamless incorporated web2.0 and other technology tools such as Voice Thread, Microsoft Paint, SMART notebook software, digital technology, Internet Search strategies, Microsoft Office and Excel, and Wikispaces to engage your students' in exploring and communicating their understanding of math. Students shared a real world example of math within data analysis. Students were responsible for developing an inquiry topic, research or surveying for answers, creating a visual representation with digital media to illustrate the results and then pose questions to their partners about their data and extension topics.
Math Connection focused on the mathematical connections of cross-curricular concepts. Although it was math focused, it pushed students to think of how math is incorporated with all aspects of life thus crossing over into science, social studies, language arts, culture, and societal studies. Student’s topics ranged from economical issues of energy and fuel, entertainments, health issues, school interests, communication methods, and environmental concerns. Student Work The below link is a detailed walk through of my students work and some of the valuable lessons to be gained by using technology. The link is a JogtheWeb, which shows my student's work and comments explaining their projects. Enjoy! Student Work for Math Connections

Her partner posed questions to this student, who as you witness, responds clearly within the VoiceThread project. Her audio was added instantly to her partner's project, making this project truly authentic.
